Bright smiles give you a confident, appealing personality. Teeth have several layers, and the translucent surface layer is known as the enamel. Any chips or unevenness on these layers cause teeth to be stained and discolored.

Today’s whitening methods use peroxide to remove these stains. Right beneath the enamel is another layer, known as dentin. The dentin must be whitened in order to make the teeth bright. Dentin stains are treated with peroxide solution applied to the tooth enamel. The answer would be to totally bleach the dentin and therefore you can whiten your teeth. Depending on the extent of the stain, teeth can lighten up to 4-5 shades.

Less severe stains and discolorations can be treated with at-home teeth whitening methods like bleaching solutions, teeth whitening toothpaste or tooth whitening strips. These are reasonably priced ways to treat yellow teeth. Particularly troublesome stains, though, would be best treated by a dentist with advanced methods like bleaching gels and laser treatments. Treatments at home are cheaper and convenient.
